I promise I feel terrible for the communities that were harmed, but it is infuriating to hear that these people distrust the EPA because “environmentalists don’t understand living in a coal town” but thought that giant companies with technology they, the townspeople, don’t understand were going to play them straight.

And then who did they have to call when within a year when things went wrong? The EPA.
