He still looked like a chicken — a little, fat, round one. I thought about telling him. Maybe he hadn’t noticed. But then I remembered about trying to be kind and that in Laurence’s mind he was a flamingo. It was probably best to try to support Laurence in whatever he believed. That’s probably what a friend would do.

We’d been looking at the Eiffel Tower for some time. It didn’t look exactly like the picture in the book. The shape was similar, but there was something that seemed different. At the top there were tight wires that connected it to . . . other Eiffel Towers. There were Eiffel Towers everywhere, as far as the eye could see.

It doesn't take too long that he reveals the truth to his friend.
