Really unsure if I'm gonna spend time on finishing this. Definitely disappointed on various levels and sad, because I'd been hungrily waiting to read this. Also, it's painfully obvious that this is a series starter and not a standalone; I dislike that in general. IMO: even series-starter books should be functional as a standalone. I.E. third parties like Hazmats exist only for another book and Cole/Justin drama.

Started off fairly strongly but certain things earn the side-eye; mostly pieces of dialogue, obviousness, and *invisble/spirit* zombies? really? I mean, there's a difference between hinting at something and putting a big red billboard over a character saying "Guess which cardboard stereotype I am?". Also, invisible. Zombies. Really? I expected Resident Evil and got...Casper.With sprinkles of 'teen romance'. Hmm.
