Am I the only the one that finds it annoying when authors use the word ‘belly’ over ‘stomach?’ Toddlers and men with beer guts have bellys.
Is it just me? Am I just endlessly picky? Please help lol

I find ‘belly’ to be infantilising - babies have bellies. When an author refers to an adult as having a belly, it feels cutsie, and not in a good way

Just another word to make the heroine feel more naive and innocent, maybe? Whatever the reason, I find it super creepy.
