A bookfair was held in the District Central library - Salem by Vijaya Pathipagam about 10/12 years back. I read "Irunda Veedu" by Barathidasan standing in the middle of the crowd. I remember visting the bookfair daily for the whole month and pestering my mom to give me some money to buy some books.

If my memory doesn't fail I bought

Karunaiyal Alla - Jayakanthan
Oorukku Nooru Per - Jayakanthan
Irunda Veedu - Barathidasan

My mother bought me

Kanavil iruthu Poratathirkku - Che Guevera
(A translation of all his works)

This book I have re-read many a times and used to take it along whenever I left home for a substantial amount of time (Along with the cardboard "Dennis" hanging).


I read randomly and bought few more books but they are not vividly stuck in my mind.

You mean to say dat u have completed reading 'all' the works of these authors?

No. Only very few, maybe one or two books by each writer. Shameful is it not??

Anna! Atleast you have read one or two books of each of the writer above, but I have never tried Prabanjan, La sa ra, Lakshmi before. What should you call me as? Shameless, perhaps :D :P

No! you made for that by reading Dostevsky and Tagore :P
