“The truth is you’re mine and, whatever happens, no one will ever separate us again,” she responded with force and held Penny tighter.

“I have you for better or for worse?”

“Until death do us part,” she lobbed back.

“Hopefully death will be a long time coming for both of us,” Penny whispered and kissed the side of Alexa’s throat.

Tears came to Penny’s eyes as Alexa gave her long, drugging kisses, whispering why she loved Penny so much. Penny could only lie there in silence, her heart bursting in joy.

“Say it again,” she ordered, running her tongue along Alexa’s bottom lip.

“What? That I love you?” Alexa rested Penny’s palm on her chest where her heart thumped steadily. Penny’s own raced.

“Yes, I’ll never get tired of hearing it.”

“I have enough life in me for the both of us. Tonight we’ll forget the past hurts and the present danger and just be together,” Penny said and raised her knees to nestle Alexa deeper into the tight embrace.

“Not just for tonight, but forever.”

Alexa clasped her shoulders and gave her a light shake. “I don’t care if you’ll only live two hundred years! I’d rather have that time with you than nothing at all. You think I’m going to let you go now that I have you again? Seeing you injured tonight almost killed me… Well, bad choice of words, but you get my meaning. We can make this work.”

“I refuse to be your dirty secret or a kept woman.”

Liquid fire pooled in between her thighs. She had a strange sense of deja vu. This was too much like the situation she’d found herself in the first time Alexa had her against a wall in some darkened alley and at her mercy.

“Damn you,” she whimpered.

Alexa’s eyes glowed, and she inhaled. “Damn us both.” The enraged kiss planted on Penny had her shaking from the mind numbing explosions inside of her.

On the other side was Alexa, the group of men who had come with her for Roderick’s ball and another, younger-looking vamp who gave off an old-fashioned and dignified air. Alexa wore a flattering style of dress and knee-high black boots with extremely slim metallic-looking pointed heels.

The boots made her look utterly f*ckable.

Seeing Alexa again after all these years made her body react in a way she’d never thought she’d feel again. Her legs trembled and her nipples molded into rigid points. The inside of her thighs grew slick. If Alexa touched her, she’d welcome her back in an instant.

She was f*cking doomed.

She howled. This was the only time she felt complete and free, with no stress or past to haunt her as it did some nights when she woke, drenched from an erotic dream, moaning Alexa’s name.

She slowed, remembering the times she and Alexa had run through the woods on the Dangelis property. She’d never forget their last night together before Alexa had smashed her heart into pieces.

A servant came forward with a glass of red liquid. She accepted it and took a sip. The
blood-infused alcohol hit the back of her throat, and her cheeks grew warm.
She finished her drink and then smiled, showing off her fangs as thunder shook the
house.
This room held her father’s killer.
She had come home for vengeance in order to slay those responsible for the death of the
