Here we come to the part of the book where the good guys are too stupid for words.

The way stone men calcify doesn’t feel consistent. Staying still is bad, but so is exertion, and so is injury. That doesn’t make any sense.

“It takes Eladora Duttin two days to solve a mystery that’s haunted Guerdon for centuries.”

Pointing it out doesn’t make it any less stupid a plot point.

Uhm... the book just had a character realize something. Except that character isn’t here. Pretty sure the book just referenced the wrong character by accident. Whoops.

Can we throw Eladora in the sea, please?

106 pages in, and I feel like I know way more about what’s going on with the detective-like guy than with any of our three main characters, two of whom are just sitting around being obstinate. It’s not an auspicious start.
