As an out-of-place black and white person myself, whose family stories were likewise lost through slavery and (in my case) through my mother's adoption, leaving my mother and I without the "last bit of mortar to secure the mosaic of my identity," I am finding this book so immensely relatable. I feel so lucky to feel like I have a home now, but can't wait to learn how/if Diakité has arrived at that feeling, too!
