I had a book review turned down by Amazon. I’ve never had that happen before. I wonder what it was that made them not like it? It is posted here https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

It didn't seem bad to me, just you stating your opinion which you are allowed to do, but I guess Amazon didn't like it.

That’s kind of what I thought. Perhaps I went too much into my opinion on a topic and not so much on the actual novel? I didn’t think so when I wrote.
Is it possible it was too long? I've noticed GR allows some of the longer reviews out there, but I feel like Amazon tends to want them shorter. Either that, or I wonder of it's possible that an algorithm didn't like you using the word "suicide" or possibly the phrase "wishing she was dead." Not inappropriate in context, but if they have an automated thing to try to stop people from saying abusive things toward an author it may be thinking you're saying something mean when you're not. The reason this comes to my mind is because Instagram has something like that. One time I was talking to a friend about writing and said I was "cutting the flab" from my WIP and Insta wouldn't let me send the message because it didn't like one of those words.
@EFB that’s a good point. I’ve run into that on B&N. Once or twice, I’ve tried to review a book and used the word “Hell,” describing the place because it was tied into the story somehow. But it was flagged as a swear word and it wouldn’t allow me to submit the review until I changed it. I haven’t run into that on Amazon and didn’t think it was the reason why in this instance. It could be the reason - you make a great point. Although, I think I used the word “cutting” in one of my other recent reviews (because the plot was the character overcoming her depression and struggles with cutting) and it didn’t flag me then. Who knows?
