O'Doone ends up killing himself when he finds out. I don't think someone murdered him, it didn't seem like Andy was going to die either, or his pregnant wife. It seems that the puppet masters know that they know, and they don't care.

I am reading NRACP.
This story sounds so like 1984, but the protagonist seems even more oblivious to the danger he is in. There is a sexy woman that he likes, and he has a friend, *O*'Doone. I think Andy needs to watch out for O'Doone, but he isn't.
