Laying this one aside for now. Jill Lepore and Robert Caro really spoil me for reading histories by other writers. The book is lumpily organized, and the author has the unnverving habit of inserting the word "probably" into every paragraph, eg. "Walter Lippman probably wrote this column at the urging of Woodrow Wilson." I don't think Lepore or Caro ever used the word "probably" in their lives.
