Having the hardest time getting into this book. Hope picks up. I won it off #goodreadsgiveaway & it’s Kate Quinn (out in 2021)! I won’t put it down but it’s not so good thus far. Please pick up 🙏🏻.

KP Bummer- she's a good author but sometimes not consistant...

Toni I’ve read the Alice Network and I enjoyed it so I had high hopes for this one-and the reviews were good. I finished The Rose Code a few days back, but it took me forever. As my son said to me, knowing I was plodding through it and didn’t want to finish it, I was clout-reading. LOL I had a good laugh at that, because he was right. How could I not read a book I got 6 months earlier than the release date? I had to!! Haha. Mind, the release date is March. That’s how long it took me to get through. I can see other people enjoying it. It was just kind of chick lit in a way (even though I’ve never read chick lit, this is how imagine it, fluffy and one dimensional). It as also painful in that one character used 40’s Brit slang the entire time. Yet she kept saying she wasn’t a silly deb. Everything was always topping! There were at least 10 slang words for every 100 words she spoke. I mean imagine a supposed serious character using only the words dude and lit and rad and whatevs-and more-throughout a whole book. I was like a little is okay to describe a characters personality—but the whole time??? Really?!! It was grating. Even the big mystery wasn’t a mystery because Quinn revealed it. Idk it just wasn’t my cup of tea. I’d also read a handful of good books prior so this was really a big step down. As was The Exiles. I need a good book now!!!!! So far so good on my current one, The boy Who Wanted Wings. . I liked James Conroyd Martin’s Push Not the River trilogy so I thought I’d give this one a go. I’m picking up The Invisible Life of Addie Larue now which is supposed to be good and which a GR friend said reminded her of A Witch in Time by Constance Sayers which I really liked. Fingers crossed.

Toni Wow that was a long post. Oops! LOL.

KP I will skip Rose Code. I am in such a book funk, i dont need yet another dissapointment! I read Addie LaRue- it was good- a fun escape. I believe I liked it even more than A Witch in Time. You may want to check out the Midnight Library as well- it was kind of in that realm, tho no witches or demons. Let me know when your ready for a buddy read!
Reading A Promised Land and listening to Magic Lessons (Alice Hoffman)
now.
