Definitely glad that I requested an arc of this! It’s brilliant, beautiful, frightening, and by far one of my favorite reads of 2020. Readers will have no idea of what they are in for, and that’s a good thing.

And the suspense of what happens next has me intrigued

I like how this story is told not from a distant outside POV, but rather from the POV of the “evil” sorceress. It twists the tale into a “what if” the evil sorceress was misunderstood. It removes traditional roles from the picture, and allows for more freedom in a royal line of succession, and it’s brilliantly done.

This is definitely an interesting Sleeping Beauty retelling, and I like how it’s told from the point of view of the sorceress, rather than from a third person limited outside point of view that makes it feel distant. Instead, we get the sense that Alyce is more than what she is seen as at a first glance. I like her.
