Yeah. I think deep down she wanted to preserve the family dynamic. But she also knew who she married. And I love how she honours him and his goals and dreams.

Oo, also on a related note, this book is the reason I roll my eyes out of my head when people start talking about Michelle running for president. Anyone who read this book can tell you that is never going to happen. She ain't interested!!

Yes!!!! She rolls her eyes at the question too! She doesn't like politics. And she admits she's too fiery and fierce. I mean, that would float my boat but it's not a job for reactionaries. You need to be contemplative before you action. That doesn't mean you're slow before action but you don't act with passion, but more conviction and evidence.
And yeah. She was always trying to get her girls to have a somewhat normal life. They didn't but she helped to ground them at least. And one of my fave parts when she says she had 8 years and no whitehouse scandal. They were highbred humans in class, dignity, integrity and family matters. I miss that in that position.
