Imagine being in Maria's place. Forcefully ripped out of your world and thrust into another for this one huge task and with much conflicting feelings and struggle, you later accept your fate. But then, you realize later that someone else could have done it from their world. It doesn't have to be you. It could have been someone else. You were deprived... stolen of your whole life away for something that could've been avoided if they just looked enough. But no, you were taken away just like that, without even thinking of how you might feel. Only for you to realize much later, it's all for nothing? You really lost your life for nothing? The overwhelming feeling of uselessness and grief that might have brought. To suddenly be feeling like a... waste. The emptiness of it.
