Reading my favorite book ever for the 3rd time. Maybe a year ago I decided that this would be the book that would christen my moving to New York City, and here I am, reading in my apartment in New York City ❤️

I think the first chapter of The Happy Years might be my favorite part of the book. If you know you know

the axiom of equality: x = x
this section was excruciating to read the first time and it’s no different this time. Oh my dear Jude, how I wish I could take your pain away.

“Why wasn’t friendship as good as a relationship? Why wasn’t it even better? It was two people who remained together, day after day, bound not by sex or physical attraction or money or children or property, but only by the shared agreement to keep going, the mutual dedication to a union that could never be codified.”

coming back to this story feels like coming home bc these characters feel like real people that I know and love

why would one intentionally reread a little life knowing the pain they will go through again? BC ITS SUPERB. I’ve felt like this whole year has been gearing up to me rereading a little life. Plus Hanya’s new book is coming SOON

Hey no tears were shed during part 3. But I know this is not something I’ll be able to say for the remainder of the book 🙂

I have many feelings but most of all I just really want to give Jude a long hug and tell him he is wonderful
