This story is so batshit crazy, I love it.

He knew what he had to do now. Vell had to eat. He had to, and he had been very clearly communicating to David what he needed to do to earn his food. It went against every principle David had, but he could not let Vell starve right before his eyes, just to preserve his own morals. With no other options, David pointed down the hallway. “Bedroom,” he ordered.

Man, just hand feed him!!! Why doesn't he at least try?!

David grabbed a broom from the supply closet and started sweeping the pieces, but that only made the gems glow brighter. Vell curled up on the floor, his hands fisted in his hair.

Whaaat?! No matter what he does it's always just getting worse for Vell. What does that damn thing want him to do?!
