I have been using this book for several years now but had not entered it in my Goodreads. It is not a book you read like a fiction story. It includes flowers, greens, mushrooms, woody plants, ferns, seaweed; where to find them, what time of year, food uses, recommended books for further research, an index, and color plates.

We have been able to identify several varieties of greens that grow in our yard! I didn't know you could eat Hosta roots! We get excited when we discover a new wild plant in our yard or travels. This year we found 3 varieties of mushrooms, two were edible-spore test- and three new wildflowers.

Living on the East Coast all my life, this is a great help in identifying edible wild plants. I am more interested in doing this now, as we try to make ends meet financially. We live in a urban area on the edge of a small city. There are woods behind our home and we don't use pesticides in our yard, so we have a variety of wild edible plants and search for them in our area. I loved the illustrations.
