Reading the setting material is both fascinating experience in and of itself and occasionally makes me giddy as it gives me another idea for my book of plot hook ideas. Some inconsistency seems present by having portals that are purely intraplanar, despite the fact that the book states that portals always have one end anchored in Sigil. Such impossibilities are the way of the Planes, I suppose.

The book of ideas is getting filled faster than I thought possible. I had some familiarity with the setting from playing Planescape Torment, but the books have done an excellent job in conveying the dream like tone and political intrigue that makes Sigil and the Planes so fascinating. A lot of Gaimanesque influence here, along with what seems to be not so kind commentary on society, particularly regarding law.

Just finished leafing through the Player's Handbook. I can see why this setting might put off some people, as the sheer amount of detail concerning the various factions alone is rich to the point that even the most interested cutter would feel as in over their head as a Clueless who decided to anger Her Serenity.
