I really struggled reading Faulkner. Really wanted to like him, but haven’t been able to get into him yet. Perhaps short stories is the way in?

You'll be amazed at the accessability of Faulkner's short stories. If you haven't joined On the Southern Literary Trail, consider it. We're reading Faulkner's Collected Stories in January. No, not 900 pages of Faulkner. Members are encouraged to choose 5 to 10 stories to discuss. This group has been active since 2012 and we're still going strong. Grab a copy of the Collected Stories. Read "A Rose for Emily." Then take a look at "Dry September," a sock in the gut about the making of a lynch mob. Hope to see you there. Not at the lynch mob...sigh. But on "The Trail."
