Misunderstood, a little what the book is about. Thought it would focus more on the 68 comeback special. But it's more about how it reinvigorated Elvis and his career in the aftermath of the special. Elvis starting Vegas act.

Didn't get much reading done. After the comeback special airs, Elvis wants to record in Memphis and get back to his roots, except his entourage the "Memphis Mafia" may be a hinderance to serious recording.

The 2nd chapter beautifully details the making of and what happened during the taping of the 68 special. Elvis' renewed vigor about singing live, and Tom Parker's overt efforts to sabotage it.

In the face of Elvis movies getting worse and worse in quality, critical reviews, and fan interest Elvis' agent Col. Tom Parker can't get a million quarantee for a new Elvis movie so he sets up a deal with NBC for an Elvis TV special and a new movie for a special price of 1.1 million.

The book starts off with a lot of photos of Elvis circa 68-70.
