Somehow, I think Linden will turn out to be not as bad as Rhine thinks. I think the fact that he looks bad to her is why it’ll turn out to be a misunderstanding, because that’s how plot twists work. It just wouldn’t make sense for him to be exactly who she thought he was at first.

Because of Rhine’s birth defect — her eyes — I think there will be some kind of plot twist where it’s revealed that she was experimented on as a baby, or her mother was while pregnant. Like what Valentine did to Jocelyn and Clary.

The overall love triangle reminds me of the one in Matched. Society is telling Rhine to be with Linden but I also think she will fall for Gabriel

I can’t help but make connections from this book to other popular YA books. The part where Rhine is trying to get out of her locked room reminds me of Tessa trying to escape the Dark House in Clockwork Angel. The part where the ladies bathe and pamper her reminds me of the scene with Katniss’s prep team in The Hunger Games.

I remember reading this book in high school and that I picked it up because I found it in the school library and liked the cover. But that’s about it. I know I liked it but I don’t really remember anything about the plot 😂
