Historical digressions are too long-winded. But the part about the inanity of interpersonal utilities makes it worthwile. Now he criticizes Rawls's Theory of Justice on the grounds that the maximin principle cannot be rationally chosen unless the 'worst position' has a probability of 1. While I'm not wholly convinced, I really like his method of reasoning, which is extremely systematic, analytic and thorough.
