Storming Hell was fun; very British.
Solidarity struck me again by its wonderful prose and well paced storytelling and total badassery of Lady Sula. Really want to read the Dread Empire's Fall series now.

The Wake was a nice piece, great blend of dark horror and light humor. Abnett is awesome.
The Pyres of New Day was wonderful, loved the writing being much like the character. Strong, emotional a soft side with dangerous edges. Would love to read more by Asaro.

The Price is well written and very powerful, I like these commands-down-the-line stories were the how's become more important than the details of the why's.
I didn't finish The Traitor the first read-through, and almost didn't this time. The premise and POV switching are interesting, but the writing and most of the story is just bland and not very imaginative.

Started rereading these somewhere during last summer. Picking it up every once in a while. Many good ones in here.

Almost through. The Traitor was meh, couldn't finish it. Game of Cat an Dragon was lovely in both it's storytelling and its ideas. Caught in the Crossfire was bleak but perhaps trying too hard. The Rhine's World incident was quite nasty, I liked the style. Winning PEace is turning out wonderfully, I love McAuley's scientific yet vibrant style.

While a bit stark, The Price was quite gripping, making a good point of the inability for soldiers to see large strategic movements. Some badass actions. The Horrars of War was great overall, though Wolfe's narrative sometimes dances the line of eloquent prose and obfuscating wordheaps.

Very happy with the first three stories! Currently reading Elizabeth Moon's contribution; had previously read her contribution to Songs of Dying Earth, love her style!
