The rumours are true!
Steven Pacey's narration is a delight, particularly the way he voices Glokta.

Guess what, someone mentioned listening this at 1.5x speed on reddit and I tried it. I was (pleasantly) surprised to find that the whole thing is quite audible and the words are still clear at that speed (though the sentences were going a little too fast for my taste). That indeed is some excellent narration there.

Trying the audiobook on this reread; Had heard great things about Steven Pacey's narration, especially how he handles our favourite Glokta!

Almost all the PoV have come together and it is fun to see the same scene through different eyes!

Part 1 complete.
I love the writing and the narration, the way this book is going. At this point, I have an inkling of what is to come but I cant predict how things will turn out. Quite a good motivation to read through the rest of this and find out what happens next.

“There are few men with more blood on their hands than me. None, that I know of. The Bloody-Nine they call me, my enemies, and there’s a lot of ’em. Always more enemies, and fewer friends. Blood gets you nothing but more blood. It follows me now, always, like my shadow, and like my shadow I can never be free of it. I’ve deserved it. Such is my punishment.”

Despite of his past, there is something humane about Logen.

1) “Tell your father he must come himself. I do not waste my time on fools and younger sons. I am old fashioned in this. I like to talk to the horse’s head, not the horse’s arse. Do you understand me, boy?”
The first of the magi is not just good with magic, but also with humor and insults.

2) Now that Glokta's chapters are less gruesome, I am coming to enjoy his witty thoughts during conversations.

I had a certain difficulty in the initial chapters. It starts like someone is telling a story from the middle. However, I got used to it and this is going well now.

So far we have 3 PoV, and among those, Logen's is my favourite. Jezal's PoV felt the most boring, till Ardee came in - and the chapter went too fast.

The story is still mysterious at this point and I am hooked. Cant wait to find out what is coming.
