Such interesting trivia about the USPS! Like how during the Civil War, mail delivery to the South was halted and the letters were routed to the Dead Letter Office who then sent them back to the senders. And how people did not use envelopes because that would be considered an extra sheet of paper (the fee was based on the number of sheets sent) and postage stamps were a relative new invention.
