Reading this because it was recommended on “Behind the Bastard” as an insight into how “the common man” of Germany became involved into the Nazi party without prior indications of fascism (and in some cases the opposite!) The author, a Jewish (undisclosed) American journalist, travelled to Germany and interviewed 10 of these low ranking party members, building a rapport so close they consider him a friend...
