Why did he ever need to be a businessman? Why not have him be a nuclear physicist with friends in high places that would help him get a cruiser?

It was at this moment I needed to double check whether the author did anything of note on January 6th. Nothing was found, so I guess I'll continue. Changing background music to Porgy & Bess. (more coherent and interesting than anything in the book so far. I don't have hope for the other 100+ pages.
