This line is in reference to a message on a chalkboard that translates to, "I know your sins". The characters are trying to figure out what it means and one of them says, "Maybe... It's telling us to keep our mouths shut". That is not what that means and I'm not sure how they got that from that message.
And another character told a blatant lie that was according to what "Odzu said". It was exagerrated.

You're kind of thrown in without there being any build up. I feel like I already know who at least two of the murderers are as well.
