(i've been actually enjoying this book up until this point so im gonna be sad if joyce doesn't get the female voice right) i actually tore through 'ithaca' within a few days bc it was so good. i can't believe i'm actually going to finish this thing

serously though, i love the idea the 'ulysses' proverbial ocean he has to cross to return home is his own self-loathing/shame +the parallel between returning to Molly/returning to ithaca. this chapter specifically also plays around a lot with gender + possibly opens bloom up to a queer/genderqueer reading?? which is super cool
