I bought this book as a 99p Amazon deal because the murder victim was Lady Fitzhugh and my mother was a FitzHugh before she married. I am enjoying it so far but I wish the author had different be a little more research.

First - Lady Doris Fitzhugh! Nobody born into the English upper classes would ever be given the name Doris, the only way anyone called Doris would get to be a lady is if they'd married a lord.

Cerys Second - I'll overlook there being a cockney maid in a country house, there may yet be an explanation for how she came to be there.

Third - the portrait of the Elizabethan Roy Fitzhugh (another implausible name, but I'll let it lie) which had a crucifix painted on during the catholic persecutions. What better way to prove you're not a catholic than by adding a crucifix, a symbol of Catholicism to your portrait?
