Pushing myself to try and finish it next month as I’m in a good reading spurt with this book rn. We’re finally at Nightless City aka the most heartbreaking part and probably where the novel deviates most from the drama. But first, more work 😪

Took a break from this novel for a while, both due to irl stuff and because I was at the Yi City arc. This arc was quite confusing for me in the drama but I’m also very close to it on my rewatch so I wanted to push through the novel and hope that the novel would clear up some of my confusion. Spoiler: it did!

Drunk Lan Wanji is hilarious. As is clueless WWX.

Drunk LWJ: *bonks poor wen ning on the head twice, basically growls at him to stay away from wwx*

WWX: hahaha lan wanji you’re so funny when drunk!

LWJ: *stares at wwx* mine

WWX: oh he must mean his sword that I’m currently holding *walks across the room twice w the sword, lwj’s gaze following* you want this?

LWJ: mine

WWX: yep he means the sword

On chapter 20/113. Interesting that the show decided to clump together the flashbacks, while the novel seems to jump back and forth in the timeline.
