There are parts of this story that I don't understand why they are part of the story, they don't add to the progression of the story line, like the fight the Hero has with the nurse and then she resign
And then the bar hook-up he has. He has not met the main Female but still these moments feel unnecessary.

OK a military Dr. smoking, fine, whatever. But then he offers it to her, who he KNOWS is PREGNANT. so many WTF's

So the author has decent knowledge about military and where the main medical hospitals are, but then he uses the term "bad guy" in a story. Not insurgent or other terms, but "bad guy" it just sounds silly in context.
