Within minutes of finishing this, so I'm clearing it out. This was a total hoot. What fun.

Bartok is a very good writer. He really captures the flavor of this subculture.

This is kinda charming. I've met people like this. There's a bit of me in here, too, let's be real.

Jon Zelazny Dennis was one of my favorite locals in the nineties, as programmer, host, and chief interviewer for the fledgling American Cinematheque. They used to rent out a studio screening room, then got their own place in the magnificently restored Egytptian Theater on Hollywood Blvd. Then, in the aughts, I met him again through our mutual friend Curtis Harrington. A few years after Curtis passed, he was kind enough to join me for a tribute piece: https://boryanabooks.com/?p=1725

Evan That's cool. I was wondering if you might have known him. His book here is really delightful. The sumbitch can write and he comes off as a great guy. I really loved the book and am working on the first part of the review right now.
