“I must admit, I didn’t take you for a ‘well done’ kind of girl."
*grits teeth* It is a SIXTEEN page story. Literally 2 pages ago it says she ordered medium-well which is not actually the same as well-done. (That's why it's called "medium-well.")
Also it's not really blood, mostly, dribbling out of steak, or so I'm told.

“Kingship leaves me little time for gathering finances in the mortal world."
I desperately want to know how their economy works, especially where it crosses over to human business.
"'Meat, potato, something green to ward off scurvy, and I am a happy man.'"

“... that I am, however technically,his regent.”
Regent was also misused in Chimes (well, "regency" technically), and in reference to a different court, so it's not as though the cats uniquely see their Kings as inherently temporary. It can be a ruler, but the main definition is "temporary ruler while the real one is too young or ill." It's not a direct synonym for monarch or reign.

This moment is a twin to "are we? Serious?" conversation in Chimes (iirc):
“Am I, then? Your boyfriend?”Her eyes widened in shock and a small measure of unexpected hurt. I was sorry for that. It had not been my intent to cause her pain. “I...you said...”
