Wow! This book got really good. It is really slow in the beginning, but the romance saves this book for me. Also, I'm starting to see the similarities between this and One Thousand and One Nights. There isn't a lot of action within this novel, so I think it could have benefitted from leaning into the romance and making it more spicy because so far, those are the best parts.

This book is slower than I anticipated. Nothing awesome has happened yet. Also, I want there to be more chemistry between the caliph and Shazi. However, I could be proven wrong.

The prologue and first chapter were attention-grabbing. I love how you're thrown right into the conflict because I hate it when books take 5 years to get to the action. Excited to keep reading.
