continued educated reflection:

I think this is absolutely crazy, that Shaun openly threatens her in front of her parents. What I think is even crazier though is how nobody punishes him for it. Everyone just lets it slide, because her family is so messed up.

This part of the book I feel is the climax because all of a sudden Tara's life is changing. She has informed her dad about the abuse she received multiple times from Shaun, and now he's on his way to her house. She knows there is no turning back, and everything is changing. In the book, Shawn and his wife just had a baby, who had many health problems and was born too early. One thing that struck me really hard was the dad's view on this.
