Sidenote but I don't feel the Titanic reference a great choice, even as backstory. It's possible to have characters with ties to multiple historic moments (ex: Robert Lincoln), but exercising restraint in HF keeps the reader focused.

Mullen dedicated the early chapters to action in and around the GPO. The history junkie in me loves it, but I wonder if the descriptions would strike those less familiar with the material the same way.
