How are you liking this series?

AYEEE lmao loving the meme that is an absolute mood hahahh 😄

I started these after Marshals, since I figured out afted book two that Sam and his husband had their own series... but the dip in quality was quite noticeable 💀💀

But I still do enjoy them to a certain degree. They remind me of the kind of telenovelas my mom watches lol. Entertaining even if certain things do set me off at times (Jory's TSTL moments, the stalker exes, Sam popping up conveniently whenever there's another man even breathing in Jory's direction, etc).

Still gonna try and finish them tho 😂 Did you?

I unfortunately have a very poor memory I wish I could say exactly when 😣 buttt according to what I wrote under volume 1 for AMoT I said book 1: 5 stars // book 2: 3 stars and I so I gave 4 altogether hehe. I read them in the other version the ones where they come together like one and two and three and four. But I gave 3 and 4 a collective 3 star rating but never wrote down my separate thoughts. I feel like it might have started going downhill for me even in book 2 😶😶😶😶 i just hate when it doesn't feel like the plot is progressing and like we are going in circles. Like I already foresaw that the same plot devices were gonna be used and phrases but I still for sure enjoyed just not one of my favorite favorites! Also, Timing was my very ✨first✨ Mary Calmes book and so I was not used to the format yet and so me thinks that could be one of my reasons besides many many MANY reasons for liking it so much was I wasn't used to or expecting it yet. Also the action always gets cut super short in Mary Calmes books and that will forever drive me nuts haahhah. And then she just writes out through a detective character (they tell the main character) everything that happened regarding bad guys / the mystery cuz the main character was of course unconscious. It's a whole lotta telling instead of showing when that goes down.

It reminds me a bit of the Sherlock Holmes books tbh... where all the exposition tends to happen in the last few pages via monologue and then you don't know whether the foreshadowing was that vague or whether you're just dumb (my experience at least lmaoo).

But I definitely agree with the going in circles bit. It hasn't annoyed me *as much*, considering I've been listening to the audiobook versions and that makes me more forgiving, but it does get old after the... idk, 8th time the same phrases or situations happen? I'm planning to keep track of all of those for my review of book 4 so let's see how aggravating it all is 🤣

And honestly, Timing was my 6th Mary Calmes book... but I wasn't bothered that much by the formula or Jory, er I mean Stef in that one either :P The romance definitely won me over!

Hahhahaah i love that we are all frustrated but will never give up on reading Mary Calmes. Our love runs too deep!! I look forward to ur review:) Yeah honestly I really think no matter when I read it I would have loved Timing the most it's just that good ur right! LMAOOO JORY ERRRR STEF 😂😂

I have given up on GR notifs for the most part, checking my update feed and hoping for the best seems like a better approach lmaoo.

Also I'm glad to be reporting that I'm 50 pages in on book 4 and Jory's "beautiful, soulful, stunning, captivating big brown eyes" have only been referenced twice.... is this character development? *gasp*

LMAOOOO GR notifs are the equivalent of a pigeon bringing mail to me. like in theory there's a chance I'll get it but the chances are high i will not get any notifs or any mail😂 AND AAHHAHAHHA IT MIGHT BE IT MIGHHHHHHHT BE! maybe next jory will get color contacts cuz he is sick of everyone mentioning his melting chocolate beautiful magnificent lovely brown eyes

(Fr though, I've reached a point in my reading experience with this series where I just laugh at things and that is making everything x999 times better lol)

Well, this series was not a success for me, I barely managed to get through it :P I loved Sam in the Marshals series but in his own series, he kinda lost that edge for me xP Hopefully you'll end up loving it way way more than I did lol

Ok but that 180 I can totally relate to!! I definitely started disliking Sam in book 1, and I actually couldn't believe I was reading about the same character that showed up in Marshals 😒 so I felt kinda cheated.

So far, this isn't a series I'd recommend exactly... and it's infuriating a lot of times, but I also find myself laughing at the utter OTT of it all so that's somehow improving my experience 😆
