You know - at 400 pages in, there are times I'm enjoying this book and I'm highly amused, and there are times I just dread the next 400 pages because there are so many things that irritate me about the characters, the language, and the plot.

Well, this has certainly picked up. Now I know what people were talking about. You really need to get through the first 70 pages before it gets interesting. This no longer feels like a chore to read. The language inconsistencies are still bugging me though.
