"batting mascara-crusted lashes at him" just when I was actually starting to like this one....the same shit as the last book, absolute villification of sexually-assertive women who like wearing makeup and care about their appearance. So sick of the misogyny. These books would actually be really cute and fun if it weren't for that.

Finally the book is starting to grow on me. Still not crazy about the portrayal of Harriet's character. How does EVERYONE hate her? Wouldn't she have to be somewhat charismatic to be successful in business? But still, I'm like the blend of the cozy genre and the shifter genre. It's an interesting combination and seeing the same characters in multiple books makes you feel like you know them.

Never any foreplay in Zoe Chant books. Just first kiss, touch the boobs a couple times, and bam! Lady is all about the penetration. Which, fine. It just isn't my thing, which is why the sex scenes in these books are sort of meh imo

So one chapter in and NOW Harriet seems like a bitch. Still not loving that the villain female character is so often concerned with her appearance and sexually assertive-when we consistently see those traits given to villains it is a vilification of them. Regardless, at least now Harriette is finally doing some unlikeaeble shit. She was the go-getter hero of the last book with the other characters hating her for noth

Jyvur Entropy "It's high time that girl settled down"-look, I don't automatically hold authors accountable for shit their characters say, but this is my second book by Chant. Both reek of misogyny in how any woman who flirts with a man is described with nothing but negative-connotation modifiers. Chant is a misogynist. Her character believes women have an expiration date and I'm guessing she does too.

Jyvur Entropy Shaun refers to Andrea as "the whole package" after she explains how fuses and wiring work. Another denigration of femininity. Andrea has proven her worth to Shaun by. revealing a stereotypically masculine capability. Women do not need to be handymen or able to change the oil on their car to be worthwhile human beings. Women do not need to be masculine to be worthwhile human beings. There is nothing wrong with being very traditionally feminine, but of course you'd never know it to read this series.
