I am intrigued by his exposition of Aquinas' virtue of Caritas (Charity) as animating and focusing the other virtues. He goes on to argue the addict attempts to make up for the lack of this virtue with the addictive behavior.

Though only a short way into his full argument, the author has done an excellent job of showing the false dichotomy so prevalent in the views of addiction--limiting it to either a disease or a choice.
