A frown pulled her brows together.
“You’re it. The one thing I was missing. Call it whatever you like – my mate, my soul. This,” and she let out a breath as he finally, finally, inched inside her, filled her, possessed her. “You and me, Goldilocks.”

“Are you laughing at me?” she demanded.
“I don’t think I dare, not with your wolf so close to the surface,” he replied.
“I don’t have a wolf,” she denied, immediately.
“Goldilocks, your eyes say otherwise.”

“If he really wanted to, he could take control, and yet he seemed utterly content to let her make demands, was happy for her to crawl all over him.”

“I’m going to kill him!” She doubled her efforts to escape Shaun’s hold.
Shaun couldn’t stop a laugh from escaping at her fury. “Baby, I can’t let you do that.”
She twisted in his arms to narrow her eyes at him. “You can’t stop me!”
Shaun grinned down at her. “Pretty sure I can.” His grin faded as he caught sight of her eyes. “Fuck, Cassie,” he breathed. “Your eyes have–”

“There will come a time when Shaun’s Alpha tendencies will come to the fore. I’ve seen him when he turns all Alpha wolf. It’ll go one of two ways with you – you’ll either enjoy it, or you’ll want to kill him … or both.”
“Enjoy it?”
“Oh honey.” Isabella’s laugh was throaty. “Alpha wolves are a breed unto themselves.”

“Don’t say what your head and logic is telling you to say. Listen to your instincts. What are they telling you?”
Cassie shifted on the couch, lifting her legs to tuck them beneath her and took a swallow of wine. “It feels right. I feel right, like everything before now has just been passing the time while I waited for him.”
“That’s one of the signs of a true mate,” Isabella smiled.”

“If you’re not pack, you’re prey – which makes you a target and, like Isabella said, that makes our pack weak.”

His wolf surged to the fore, demanding he take his mate. The scent of her fear mixed with the smell of her skin, the touch of her body pressed against his drove him crazy. He wanted to soothe her, own her, calm her, claim her, control her, fuck her. He wanted to bury himself so deep inside her, neither would be able to say where he ended, and she began. He wanted to coat himself in her scent, taste her on his tongue.
