Another book novella I finished and forgot to update. Somehow, this one managed to take place over the span of a decade and STILL feature insta-love 💀

(Will write a review later, but for now this will seat in the currently-reading jail cell)

Agla I'm not sure what you thought of that but I just wanted to point out that I think the "span over several decades" seems to be this author's trademark. I have not read this one but I read and LOVED Rat Park that spanned over 25years (or maybe more) so if you liked that aspect I would recommend that one. Other +: it did not feature the insta-love trope at all!

Oh, I don't have a problem with the story having such a long timeline! I actually enjoy getting such a lenghty glimpses into the character's lives, it gives such a nice context. My problem with this one was the fact that so many years were included, yet all the romantic development took place in what seemed like a matter of days 😅 Felt a little jarring! Still cute though.

Thanks for the recommendation though! I'll look it up asap 🖤

I see what you mean, I'm gonna stay away from this one I think. I really loved the "over decades" aspect, I thought it was done seamlessly in the one I read and it is quite original IMO 😊. Rat Park is the opposite of a light book in terms of themes so you need to be in the right mood!

You made me look into the author's other books and... I'm definitely intrigued by a few now! I could see the bones of a great story somewhere in this novella, so I'm hoping the extra pages will serve to realize the potential. Have you tried her werewolf duology too by any chance? (Starting with In This Iron Ground) I will keep in mind the warning for the heavy themes though. So far, it seems like most of her full novels all have similar tones.

I haven't read that duology because I'm not really into paranormal or werewolf/shifter (I don't even know whether those are different or in the same "genre", that's the extent of my knowledge lol). Yeah, all her books seem on the heavier side of things which is why I've yet to pick another book by her but the time will come for sure 😊
