Pleasantly Europhilic, with references to RL Stevenson, Verlaine, etc., intricate imagery, and digressions

Tarun Faruqi Sahab admired the works of Peter Ackroyd, among others. Do try to read Ackroyd's 'Hawskmoor' if you like Qabz-e Zaman.

Just jotted it down, Tarun, thanks for the excellent recommendation! Hawksmoor is on my radar. I've always heard his name, but know less than I should. Have a newfound admiration for those who juggle writing criticism and fiction, they are really something else!

As for Faruqi sahab, yes, his love for the western (and other) canon shines through, somewhat similar to Masud's (who referred to him as a much-needed literary theorist for Urdu Lit, if I remember right). He also mentions Thomas Love Peacock, and I'm guessing will probably mention others further in the story. I find this kind of affinity and camaraderie b/w writers much more subtle than the parochial attitudes that often come up while mapping non-Western literature.
