I love nautical stories; the crew of the Narcissus is in this struggle against the sea and like the first story in the collection, it really just seems to be allegory of the futility of life itself.

Finished my reread of Heart of Darkness. One of the aspects I like the most is how so much implied or hinted at rather than stated outright. Like the "magnificent" African woman with the helmet hair. What exactly was her relationship to Kurtz? I'd guess romantic, especially with th comparison drawn between her nd Kurtz's intended, as they both stretched their arms out forlornly. But Conrad leaves that for us to figur

I think this is my 3rd time reading Heart of Darkness. One motif I don't think I've ever explored enough is the effervescent presence of ivory throughout the story and how this might bolster a Marxist reading
