wait, to sum my thoughts cause i got one (1) coherent thought for once: i would have really enjoyed this book when i were younger cause this is the representation i was looking for. HOWEVER, i think im at the point where representation, for me, can't be the Best part of the book. like, sure, she writes decent-- but i think it's overdramatic. it's exciting, sure.

terrible, disappointing. synopsis: power-hungry once-victim believes that her suffering gives her the right to sacrifice anything for her ultimate purpose, the pursuing of her fate (which, disappointingly enough, is as unimaginative as ruling the world). i can't believe i had to read 416 pages from the villains POV. absolutely no sympathy. hate the main character.

pretty good, characteristically YA, not the best book I've read by a far mile, not the worst book I've read by a far further mile.

fairly liking it so far. it does follow a very YA template and the descriptions near the start of the book try too hard without saying too much. I'm fond of the setting and premise, though. we'll see!
