Someone wants to take my review down because I didn't put a spoiler filter on info about rape and abuse from the hero. ❤️ Please wish her good luck along with me 🥺🥺
It's my first time being reported, I'm excited 😍

QuinnReads Ugh! That's trigger material, sure. Spoiler? If it's a pivotal moment, maybe. Even still, I don't think that should be classified as a spoiler. People need to know these things.

message 2: by QuinnReads (new)

QuinnReads For what it's worth, I've seen the review and DEFINITELY appreciate that kind of heads up. Non-con is not a thing I'm fond of reading between the MCs. It works for some books but I always prefer to walk into a book with that knowledge.

message 3: by Arini (new)

Arini lol getting spoiled on books youre excited to read is annoying. but i dont think youre obligated to filter what you want to share or i mean its not a crime if you dont put spoiler tags. this is a book site where people talk about books. so i think we all should be aware of the possibility of coming across spoilers when we’re roaming around here. besides, what one person considers spoilers could differ from another’s. the one getting spoiled should be more careful, and the one doing the spoiling should be more considerate. im sure you have a reason for not tagging it under spoiler. im curious to see how this unfolds. keep us updated! 😂

message 4: by ellie (new)

ellie i will shout from the pits of hell itself, that trigger warnings aren’t spoilers🤡 it got to the point i was so pissed off i wrote my end of year essay for my creative writing class about the need for trigger warnings and how they’re in no way spoilers... if they’re spoilers then the author hasn’t written that type of content right, in my opinion🤷🏻‍♀️ shows me they’ve just used triggering content as a plot device for shock value/plot twists rather than handling it for the type of content it is :////

i read Frivolous a few weeks back with EXTENSIVE trigger warnings in the preface... and none of it spoiled a single part of the book for me.😭 i truly don’t understand how anyone can view trigger warnings as spoilers when it can be really damaging to a person when they’re not included.

i will also be wishing this person luck in trying to get your review taken down😌 i would low-key be excited too ahaha. bring it on😉

Candy M. Omg I'm so proud of your development 🥺 this is a GR milestone! You haven't made it until you get a real troll trying to stir up drama in your comment section. Their efforts will prove useless, of course, but I guess they had a lot of free time! I would recommend knitting as an activity.

bookaddict lass (kate) Well anything could be considered a spoiler. The 90% of the reviews on GR could be taken down for that reason🤣🤣🤣
I personally think that rape is a trigger and not a spoiler, but everyone has different opinions, so no one should be pressed to put filter tags on their reviews❤️
Love your reviews Irunia and please keep us updated🤣
P. S. *goes in search of the tea*

bookaddict lass (kate) I just found the review and I remember seeing someone else offended by it too in your comment section🤣🤣🤣 I guess people are unable to walk by this particular review

The Girl Murdered by Her TBR Of course you are excited to be reported. 🤣🤣🤣

Yes, esp in romance genre. I would understand people being annoyed when someone spoils a character's death or a major plot twist no one would ever expect, but rape and abusive relationship??

The reason why I mentioned it in the first place. I think her problem was me giving this book 5 stars tbh 😂
She seems so outraged for potential readers of this book 🤡

Agree, Arini 😌 tbh anything besides "this book was BLOODY AMAZING" and "this book was FREAKING HORRIBLE" can be considered as a spoiler lol. Even the hea could be labelled as such when someone doesn't like your review for some reason

Couldn't have said it better. 👏🏻👏🏻I'm one of those people who doesn't care about spoilers AT ALL. Like the only person who can ruin a book for me is an author. 🤡 I find it difficult to distinguish between what is spoilers and what is not in romance genre. I wouldn't mention sudden deaths and major plot twists without any warning and that's about it.
Triggers are a cool device to filter books

They probably do it between knitting and reading books 💅🏻 this is not the first person under this review of mine who acts offended by it tho 😂 my lucky review 😌

Yes, I agree. I'm here to review books and not to appease everyone ✋🏻 they would hate you for mentioning abuse, then they would hate you for not mentioning it 😂

I guess that's what happens when you love a rapey book and are not afraid to talk about it openly. 💅🏻 I don't think it's a coincidence the last offended person gave the book 1 star 🤡

message 17: by Summer (new)

Summer Wow 🤦‍♀️ Where does it stop? If reviews are taken down or deleted then it will be the tags next. I have numerous tags and one of them is 'rape by hero' tag. I have seen your review in question and it does come with a warning marked in bold 🙈🙄

Celia {Hiatus until August} 😂 🤣

Lori [semi-hiatus] Here we go again with the Karens of goodreads 🥱🥱 I had someone tell me to put a spoiler on a review too recently 🤣🤣

The way they multitask 🤩 but for real, keep reading these "controversial" books. Getting prudes upset is an achievement.

⚔Irunía⚔ Lori wrote: "Here we go again with the Karens of goodreads 🥱🥱 I had someone tell me to put a spoiler on a review too recently 🤣🤣"

Lol. Moral police be roaming the streets of goodreads 🤡

I have 2 shelves for this: rape by hero (dub con or non con) and rape by om 🤡
And literally every second tag of mine can be considered a spoiler.
But Summer she had different agenda anyways methinks, so it doesn't matter my warning was marked in bold 😂😂

I agree Irunia, agenda to cause trouble 😡 Ignore 💃🏻🙌 😘Snowflake Karen will get over it 🥊

Aww, thank you sweet 🥰😍 And I love your reviews 😘❤️they are miles better than some of the so called books I have read 😖🤔🏃🏻‍♀️

Because Butterflies I’m glad you are finding it entertaining, if not anything else 🙄👅 But, my opinion exactly: normally those things are triggers and someone should be really thankful to know beforehand. Personally I find these things petty, because if you want to read a book spoilers or not, you just go ahead and do it👊 It’s an experience! But to each their own 🙃😉😘
PS: Where is it btw? Now I really wanna read it… 😂🤣🧐

Because Butterflies PPS: Got it! Just as an example: I just finished reading Poisoned Paradise by Lucy Smoke and right before the book started there is a HUGE trigger warning that happens to be a huge reveal for the story. I think your review is as “safe” as spoilers go as possible. Peeps are a bit too OTT sometimes 🙄😘

message 31: by Kay (new)

Kay lol😂
Seriously though, I consider that trigger warnings. I've read reviews with spoiler and reported it 😁 (name of killer or who died at the end) and GR never took it down. 🤔🙄

message 32: by ⚔Irunía⚔ (last edited Sep 09, 2021 02:35PM) (new)

⚔Irunía⚔ Iris, I don't know why I find people shitting on my reviews entertaining but I do 😭😂 probably because I feel like I'm in my own right and I'm petty enough to enjoy watching others clowning me?? 😂And I completely agree, most people feel GRATEFUL for such warnings, esp if the rape is done by the HERO. And we discussed it with Ellie earlier that trigger warnings are not spoilers!! Thanks for your input.

But this woman who reported me has different agenda. I skimmed through her feed and saw that she didn't scold 1 star reviewers of the book in question who didn't tag their warning about rape as spoilers. Also she liked some reviews (with the same rating as hers) that have "spoilers" but didn't put spoiler tags on and still she didn't bat an eye reading me a lecture 😂😂😂 I guess rating books like her gives you a free pass.

Her real problem is that my review is on top and she hated this book:DD

Also thanks for your support girl ❤️

⚔Irunía⚔ Kay, I really hope she doesn't see this thread and your comment. Her dreams of taking the review down will be crushed 😭😭😭:D

On a serious note, you need to be an asshole to spoil the things you mentioned (I guess you're talking about thrillers/detectives being spoiled) without any warning 🙄
But I personally am very tolerant to spoilerish reviews. When I plan on reading a book I either read a ton of them 😂 or just avoid any reviews of those books altogether. As simple as that

message 34: by Katerina (new)

Katerina I spoil nearly every book I review. Can’t help it, I get passionate. I *try* to give a heads up, but the heads up is on my bio, so goodreaders need to do their due diligence and click a profile because this is a review site at the end of the day - the possibility is high! 🤭

message 35: by Melluvsbooks (new)

Melluvsbooks Oooh! Do you get a special badge?! 😈

message 36: by Sabrina (new)

Sabrina If your book has cheating and you didn’t put a trigger warning for that… Cheating is a HUGE trigger for me. I will have a really bad time, I will get mad at your book and you as an author and I will make sure everyone knows about it.

message 37: by alka (last edited Sep 10, 2021 03:28AM) (new)

alka i don't care if your review has spoilers i'll read it anyway coz i get to laugh my ass off hehe

edit: yes you can give me my clown ticket 🤡

⚔Irunía⚔ @Katerina, I know the struggle. I feel sorry for people whose reading experience can get ruined by one minor spoiler tho 🙏🏻 I think as long as we warn about some major ones in our reviews, no one will cancel us :D

⚔Irunía⚔ Ayanna 😂😬😭 your comment made my day 🙏🏻😂 thanks for the support girl!! and I'm sorry some grammar nazi attacked you. They probably wanted to become English teachers but failed in their endeavour to become one, which prompted them to unleash their wasted potential here 😂

⚔Irunía⚔ Mel, I wish 😂😂 it would be nice 👉🏻👈🏻

⚔Irunía⚔ Sabrina, your message got to me through the screen brrr 🥶 good for me I'm not an author 😂

⚔Irunía⚔ Alka, what clown ticket are u talking about?? 😱 That's what I call unconditional acceptance 🥰

message 43: by Antonella (new)

Antonella trigger warnings are not spoilers!!!!!! all these Goodreads police people going on other people's reviews and acting like this are annoying AF..

⚔Irunía⚔ Antonella, exactly!! And it turns out I'm being rude when I point out that they should mind their own business 😂

⚔Irunía⚔ Ayanna, same girl!! Her real problem was that I gave 5 stars to a book she gave 1 star and she clearly couldn't come up to terms with the fact that it's on top 🙄 she said nothing to other reviewers who 1 starred and basically described the whole thing without putting any spoiler tags :D She is selective when it comes to giving lectures 😂🙄
and she's not the first one to do it under this particular review. Moral police find it hard to ignore this one, poor things.
So you have been attacked by groupies and I - by haters, my congratulations 🎊😌😘

message 46: by Isha (new)

Isha Wow! I'm weirdly proud of you😶
But help me out here, since when did people start calling TW spoilers?

⚔Irunía⚔ Isha 😂😂 since when they have no other excuse to come at someone 😂
