Two recommendations: "Cockroaches" by Nordic noir writer Jo Nesbo; "The crane wife" by Patrick Ness (American expat in London). Totally different, both very enjoyable. The latter, based on a Japanese fairy tale, is magical and sometimes wickedly funny. When did you last read a book about "forgivness."
