It went from awful, to maybe okay, to meh, to full-on boring, contrived, etc, etc. At this point I just want it to be over 💀 But it's moving at such a slow pace that I might mark it as finished in 2022. Thank you for the encouragement though!!

Thank you, Ayanna 😔 It's honestly a MESS. I read a chapter more after this update and somehow things manage to escalate and become even more melodramatic... while staying stale af. HOW is that even possible?! I think I just stumbled upon a new literary subgenre right here. Called literary dread, 'cause I'm literally dreading finishing this one now 🤡

I've only DNF-ed one (1) book in the past four to five years, so that was never going to be an option for me 😭 I'm saying the answer to that is self-destructive tendencies. It's the only proper one.

Also... all the hints towards the sequels have been leaving me 😑😑 tell me why I should care about the MF when C E Ricci can't even fully sell me on her MM to begin with.

I expected all those reactions, but dull and boring??! Even with all that drama and secret society intrigues?! This in itself is a literary achievement 🤣
On the bright side though, you're almost done with this disaster so congratulations Candy!! The end is finally near! :P

Honestly if you're that curious and can DNF, I'd say to give it a go. A lot of people still enjoyed it! If you can't DNF, however... run for the hills! Personal advice, D 🤣

You're so nice, thanks again! 😭 I think your enjoyment might depend on whether you loved After Rain Falls or not. Personally, I liked the first book in the duology but hated the second. The later is a better depiction of how OTT and... well, nonsensical, it can all get. But at least I liked River 😔 I'm not feeling either of the MCs in this one.

I KNOW. It's simply a study in awfulness. I read a few extra chapters after this update and can also confirm it does get worse. At least After Rain Falls was a breezy read when I wasn't crying from outrage and also had a likable character (singular), because I can't even say the same thing about this one. Although I have to admit... Roman isn't my most hated character any longer! The other MC is much worse. It's the little miracles, I guess.

Please save your respect for worthy causes 🤚🤚 I am just exhibiting dangerous levels of idiocy over here. Plus, I never DNF so I was done for the moment I picked this story up lol. Now I have to power through to the bitter end! But thanks for the encouragement 🖤

I still don't why she refuses to add proper TWs if I'm honest (assuming you mean her entire foolish "don't read if you get offended, TWs are spoilers" stance), but the triggering content is the least of this book's problems. I probably took more notes for this than for some of my five star reads.

She has good premises and I can see potential (I liked the first book in the duology enough for a three star rating), but the execution.... leaves a lot to be desired. And the storylines keep getting progressively more OTT and illogical. My "telenovelas could never" shelf is getting extra padding soon for sure.
